  SALTGLAZE TEAPOT, c.1750-55 £850  
A stunning mid 18th Century salt glazed teapot and lid of pear shape , finely enameled with Oriental figures in a landscape that deserves a second look.
This shape appears in English silver over a very short period around 1755. Although the whole is based on a Meissen teapot of earlier 1730s form. The decoration on one side a mother & child, representing peace and harmony , The other a warrior holding a curved sword or fighting stick with a dog of Fo implying war.
5.75ins high.
Probably Thomas and John Wedgwood, Staffordshire (circa 1750-55. )
