A very English sampler worked by one Jessie Low in Dundee Fortarshire Scotland in 1823.
Interestingly To an early Primrose is by the English Poet Henry Kirke White (1785-1806).
Jessie was born to William & Jessie (Thompson) on 22.Dec.1817 making her only six when she worked her sampler . She married in 1843 to Thomas Matthew . They had 3 children. She died aged 61 in 1879.
Fine coloured silk on a fine ground.
