A wonderful pair of Regency period feltwork pictures of flowers in baskets. The pieces of felt cut and stitched directly onto the backing cloth, either shaped or embroidered in silk to convey subtle details and colour shading, with the addition of some beads.
The original oval frames bearing the makers labels for Thomas Merle (1782-1826) .
Each 31 x 36.5 cm.
Condition some damage to frames but needlework fine. |
