JEMIMA PEACOCK, LINCOLN 1797

£385

  JEMIMA PEACOCK, LINCOLN 1797 £385
A wonderful late 18th century darning or repair sampler. Although not stitched in darning patterns Jemima has cut out shapes in the ground fabric and replaced them with pieces of silk fabric. Occasionally stitching over to create a variety of flower types held together by a ribbon .
Signed Jemima Peacock of Lincoln, Aged 10 1797. It is very unusual to find this style of sampler with the stitchers details.
Jemima was named after her Mother her farther being John Peacock they had 10 children. Our Jemima married Samuel Kingstone on 17.11.1824, a cabinet maker of Spaulding Lincolnshire.
