WILLIAM CHAMBERS BIRTH SAMPLER 1829

£485

WILLIAM CHAMBERS BIRTH SAMPLER 1829 £485
Birth Samplers are surprisingly rare, and this one particularly appealing, worked in coloured silks on a fine ground that has kept most of its original colours.
Commemorating the birth of William Chambers on the 26th June 1829 it is surrounded by a bouquet of flowers that emulate from a central wicker basket sited on a lawn partly made up of French knot stitch. The end of which has two cockerel's signifying a new day / start.
It would appear William was the son of Ann & William Chambers Butchers of Liverpool. (Hope to find out more later).
Small size measuring only 38.5 x 35 cm including maple wood frame.
A few small holes to ground fabric.
