STACKING DECOY DUCK, NORFOLK c.1940 |
£95 |
An interesting single decoy duck that would originally have ben part of a set of 10 . Each painted to resemble a familiar species to the area and are made with a hollowed out base that would contain the hanging lead weight and the detachable head. the stack of 10 having a central rod with carrying handle. This enabled the hunter to carry a raft of 20 birds out to the fens. I have seen these as being from Norfolk.
Interestingly this has a makers mark "Super Apo".
Length of body 11 inches 28 cm.
This was brought as a single from the Rosemary Plant Collection of Folk Art. |
