Ivan Roa Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on May 31, 1919. He was the son of Richard Edgar Allen Christian and Adelia Carrie Jordon McCoy. He married Verna Carlene Deborah Young, daughter of Andrew Clarence David Young and Cathering Almira Warren, on Pitcairn Island. Ivan held the office of Chief Magistrate of Pitcairn Island in 1980.
