A large caved oak panel depicting Saint John. Seen standing holding a Bible with Quill in hand Symbolism of him writing a Gospel. At his feet an Eagle.
Possibly Bretton France, c.1700.
Although somewhat crudely carved, this was possibly intended for a position high up in the church where fine detail would not be seen . or may have been painted again fine detail not needed.
