A wonderful 19th century oak stool, that could tell a story or two.
All three legs appear original although two one front and the back are beautifully shaped, was it the intension of the maker to put these on the front, but just didn't. The top has the appearance of being used as a chopping block, but the underside more so. I can see its owner, seated by the fire, but needing some kinder-ling, so just upturned his stool and using the legs to hold the wood, chopped some, before returning to the fire to warm his hands and watch his dinner cook !. |
