Post card unused but with stamp.
Pitcairn Islanders ern a living by making and selling hand crafts. Here Len Brown carves a wall fish, Millie Christian weaves a basket, Norma Clark displays a basket and sun hat, while Anderson Warren shapes a walking cane. All items are hand made: carvings are made from Miro Wood (Thespesia populnea), and weavings from the leaves of the Pandanus palm. As of 1970 Pitcairn Island population was approximately 90. |
