Donyatt Pottery in Somerset, produced many puzzle jugs, from the 18th century through to the late 19th, that are unique in style . This example was made for William Dinham of Fivehead in 1790. Interestingly the Dinhams ran or worked at the pottery from the Mid 1770's to possibly 1850's. Although I can not make a connection to our William who was born about 1765 and married Ruth Cozens in 1791, so presumably this jug was used at the engagement party or his 25th Birthday the year before.
