I have always considered "Folk Art" originated throughout the wold in early cultures, and that fine art was developed by the classical cultures of Greece etc. Areas of Mesopotamia, Iran & Syria perhaps the first great culture, produced some unique art styles, and I'm not qualified to say if they are Fine or Folk Art I know figures like this bottle make me smile.
Produced in Iran circa 1500-1000 BC.
