An interesting stoneware jug of transitional form mid way between the pot bellied pot with flat base standing on pinched pie crust foot rim, and the classic Renaissance stoneware jug where by the band around the middle is decorated in relief with a classically inspired scene.
Restoration to pieces around rim and handle is made up.
Waster / Reject / Missfire from the Brunssum Schinveld region in The Netherlands, circa 1200. The only region in The Netherlands that produced medieval Stoneware. |
