THE ROBERT ALLEN, CHETHAM & WOOLEY LOWESTOFT TEAPOT, c1800.
This inscribed "A Lowestoft Gift" & Initials teapot has been attributed to the decorator Robert Allen, an important figure in the history of Lowestoft having been employed from the start at the porcelain factory before establishing his own china shop in the town in 1793.
Its provenance dating back to 1964 when it was sold as part of the Sharp collection of teapots at Sotheby's (lot 2) Thrift Cottage & Oxbrough collections. |
