In 1838 When Queen Victoria had succeeded to the Throne It was arranged that there would be a great review of the troops in Hyde Park resulted in an amusing tiff with Lord Melbourne . The Queen insisted she would appear on horse back, The Prime minister thought this was indecorous and unladylike, tempers flared, harsh words were spoken and it was reported in the Times....The Queens words on the subject '''remember no horse, no review''' The review took place on horse back but at Windsor not Hyde Park as illustrated on this jug.
A rare jug only previously recorded on a part wash set. ill May.2.18.
