SHORE BIRDS by JOANIE SKEETE |
£SOLD |
. don't know when a carved decoy becomes fine art or when fine art becomes a decoy. These exquisitely carved shore birds are placed in a naturalistic environment including shells and seaweed with clear resin forming the water. I think they represent a Dunlin and Snipe ,
They are carved and come from small studio, features the exquisite works of Geoffrey and Joanie Skeete, who recreate indigenous and migratory birds in Barbados. one of the birds is signed in full to the underside, and it bears the studio stamp to the base.
I understand this pair may have been entered into the Wold Decoy Carving championships in the late 1990s .
Birds life size, base measures 26 cm 10 1/4 inches. Total height 17 cm.
