A very interesting Bristol card needlework depicting The "Western Hospital Torquay, founded in 1850 and built in 1853 for Incipient Consumption, Torquay, Devon with 40 beds. (Consumption, today more commonly called 'tuberculosis', is a bacterial infection which typically affects the lungs of a sufferer, causing a persistent wet cough, difficulty breathing, fever, fatigue and sweating. Much later in 1915 the Western Hospital had become the "Auxiliary Military Hospital".
