It is not unusual for girls to undate their samplers. If unmarried they may not have wanted a reminder of their true age hanging on the wall. These are generally known as vanity samplers.
It would appear Elizabeth was baptized in Wittersham in 1848 her parents Mary Ann & Edgar Brignall a music teacher and later Professor of Music. |
