Jane Martin National school Tenterden 1837.
Worked in very much a traditional style with lower and upper case alphabets, a row of numbers 1 to 11, followed by the popular verse Jesus permit thy gracious name to stand, As the first effort o an infants hand....
Jane was born 1826 one of 13 children of John & Mary Ann, farmers of the town. She married Henry Bennet a carpenter and had 2 children. They lived in Tenterden high street. She died Jan 1899.
