ELIZ HEARSFIELD NEW ROMNEY 1832

£......

ELIZ HEARSFIELD NEW ROMNEY 1832 £......
A most personal sampler of mine on many levels , it would appear that Eliza was born in 1822 daughter of Mary & Thomas Hearsfield of Brooklands possibly illegitimate or a twin to Harriet born in Dec.1822. And for some reason she was brought up as a Bottings in New Romney.

The National School in New Romney was opened in 1820. The building was extended in 1871.
This sampler was given to me by the American Antique dealer Sue Zipple , knowing my love for school, red, small samplers (it ticked a lot of boxes) and also my children had both gone to school in New Romney
