A delightful small sampler by Sarah, the youngest of ten children of Hannah & Robert Hoad, an Agricultural labour. A sad reflection it would appear that Sarah went to London seeking a better life ? only to enter the Fulham Road Workhouse age 20 along with 1171 fellows, her number being 19966. Entering the workhouse would have been grim, but considered a better place than the alternative. |
