Antique Map samplers are always interesting, Maps of Asia rare. It is interesting that Ellen Wilson included Australia in hers. Unfortunately she has removed the date of her sampler. Papers included in the original frame imply, that possibly her father worked for Maritime Passengers Assurance Company, Liverpool Branch in the 1850's , and a fragment of an envelope ( c.1890's) addressed from Glasgow is to Miss Wilson possibly the reason why she removed the date from her sampler!.

A number of small holes and damage around date area. |
